Vinales
The valley of Vinales is one of the best tobacco cultivation areas ever. The tobacco for the most expensive cigar in the world probably comes from the valley of Vinales. Cohiba launched a strictly limited edition of only 100 boxes in 2006, made from the finest Cuban tobacco, each cigar rolled by a single tobacco reel. But also for significantly less than 370 euros for only one Cohiba, connoisseurs will certainly get their money's worth. The best cigar brands in Cuba are Partagas, Romeo y Julieta, Montecristo, Cohiba and Bolivar.
If you travel to Vinales make a stop 4 km before Vinales on the plateau of the Hotel "Horizontes Los Jazmines" and leave your eyes on the valley, it is indescribable. If Steven Spielberg had known the Jurassic Park from the Vinales Valley whilst shooting the film he would have chosen exactly that scenery. You will think that every moment a dinosaur might appear behind one of the karst mountains, the "Mogotes". The whole landscape looks almost unreal and is uniquely beautiful. 17 km west is the largest cave system of Cuba with an extent of 46 km. To the beach of Cayo Jutias it is about 55 km in a north-westerly direction. The journey is adventurous, but you will definitely enjoy the untouched landscape, the white beach and the turquoise water.
