María la Gorda

Maria la Gorda is located on the Guanahacabibes peninsula, directly on the Bay of Corrientes. The area belongs to the province of Pinar del Rio in northern Cuba. The entire peninsula was declared a national park and in 1987 a UNESCO biosphere reserve. Lovers of individual travel and nature lovers will be delighted by the diversity, beauty and unspoilt nature of this Cuban idyll. Far away from mass tourism you will find a unique flora and fauna, more than 170 species of birds such as parrots, owls and the smallest bird in the world, the bumblebee hummingbird. The endangered sea turtle is also under special protection there and lays its eggs on the beaches. The Cuban crocodile is also native there. Snow-white beaches, clear, turquoise blue water and plenty of sun are obligatory like everywhere in Cuba.
